What is Halal?

Halal simply means "what is permitted" or "legal". When it refers to Halal foods, it involves all the foods that are allowed for consumption in accordance with Islamic principles. All food is considered good for consumption unless it is:

- Blood or blood derived products

- Meat and all products of forbidden animals, including pigs, and all carnivorous animals (not including fish) or birds of prey

- The meat or any other product of an animal that has not been treated humanely or slaughtered the correct way

- The meat or any other product that comes from a sick or dead animal

What the Halal certification?

This means that the food has been subjected to approved certification systems that guarantee to consumers that nothing in the food has banned components. Halal certificates are issued by a third party certification body.
